Seize Summer with Seas the Day Bohol Tour Package by Empty Nest

Bohol is one of the hottest tourist destinations in the Philippines and it's easy to see why! Home to world-famous attractions like the Chocolate Hills, Bohol offers a seemingly endless list of fun things to do.

If you’ve been to Bohol’s more popular tourist attractions and want to do something different this summer, Empty Nest Vacation House might have what you are looking for! Empty Nest, a family home turned vacation rental in Tagbilaran City, exclusively offers Seas the Day, a customizable summer tour package for Bohol.

Available only for summer 2016, the Seas the Day Bohol Tour includes accommodations at Empty Nest Vacation House, van rental, trips to some of the best food spots in Bohol, a city tour, kayaking clinic and an afternoon of swimming at Dumaluan Beach Resort.

I was invited to try out the Seas the Day Bohol Tour along with nine other bloggers of Cebu Blogging Community. We had a fun and comfortable time staying at Empty Nest and enjoying the offerings of the summer tour. Here’s a summary of my tour experience and why you should definitely stay at Empty Nest while in Bohol!

Why stay at Empty Nest Vacation House?

Homey atmosphere

Empty Nest is a fully furnished vacation house with three air-conditioned bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a kitchen, living and dining area and courtyard. Our group of ten had no trouble settling into the warm and homey atmosphere of Empty Nest. The owner and manager, Hannah Datoy-Dumaluan, is a Department of Tourism certified tour guide and a very gracious, accommodating host.

At Empty Nest, guests can experience what it is like to live like a local in Bohol. Also, because it is nestled in a residential neighborhood, the house is peaceful and isolated from the hustle and bustle of the city. Did I mention that they allow pets, too?

Located in a gated 5-residence family compound in Mansasa District, Empty Nest Vacation House offers its guests the convenience of living within the comfort and convenience of the city. The vacation house is a few minutes away from downtown Tagbilaran and a 10-minute drive away from the city pier and airport.

Bohol is a big island and it will take more than a day to explore all its sights and spots. Empty Nest’s strategic location makes it a reasonable and practical choice for either business or leisure trips.

Empty Nest Vacation House offers an overnight rate of PHP 3,000 (about USD 64.56). This is good for four people and PHP 500 (about USD 10.76) for each additional person. Considering that you’re renting an entire house, I’d say this is a very affordable deal!

Empty Nest is a great accommodation option for big groups and families. You should definitely consider this vacation rental the next time you’re in Bohol for a family vacation, barkada outing or team building event.

Seas the Day Bohol Tour

Seas the Day Bohol Tour is a customizable 2-day and 2-night stay tour package. Our group of ten had an incredible time enjoying some of Bohol’s hottest food spots and other fun activities. Here’s a glimpse into what we did during the tour.

Dinner at Abi’s Seafoods and Grill

For our first night, we had a very filling buffet dinner at Abi’s Seafoods and Grill, just what we needed after our two-hour boat trip from Cebu. This newly opened restaurant specializes in seafood and for only PHP 250, you get to enjoy unlimited servings of your favorite seafood and bottomless iced tea. I loved their scallops and grilled fish.

The lunch buffet at Abi's Seafoods and Grill is from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM while the dinner buffet is from 5:00 PM to 9:00 PM. They also offer an ala carte menu.

Breakfast at Estrella Bakery

After a restful night at Empty Nest, our group headed off to Estrella Bakery for breakfast. This artisan café is is one of the most instagrammable shops in the city! I’ve already blogged about Estrella Bakery and I still can’t stop gushing over how delicious their pastries are!

We stuffed ourselves with their newest offerings such as the pain au chocolat, blueberry muffins, chicken sandwiches (pictured) and croissants. Did I mention that their coffee is also divine? Estrella Coffee is the only café in Tagbilaran that offers Illy Coffee (pictured).

Tagbilaran City Tour

You don’t have to go out of Tagbilaran City to experience the rich culture and history of Bohol. The city is home to several historic sites and landmarks. We saw a compelling cross-section of Bohol’s past in the tours we had at the National Museum of Bohol and the Carlos P. Garcia Heritage House.

I was pleasantly surprised at all the weird and wonderful artifacts on display at the National Museum of Bohol. Among the amazing things I witnessed were the skeletal remains of a 500-year-old Boholana (pictured) and an exhibit depicting the ancient burial tradition of the region. We also stopped by the house turned museum of former Boholano President Carlos P. Garcia.

Lunch at Sun Café

For our lunch, we stayed at the vibrant and stylish Sun Café. Our mouthwatering feast gave us the energy we needed for all the fun activities we would be doing in the afternoon. We enjoyed fresh salad, fruit shakes and a generous helping of their Texas pork ribs (pictured). Sun Café’s Texas pork ribs might be one of the best in city! Definitely drop by here if you are looking for a hearty and meaty meal.

Chilling at Dumaluan Beach Resort

No trip to Bohol would ever be complete without going to its world-famous white sand beaches. My blogger companions and I spent the rest of the afternoon enjoying the sun, sand and sea at Dumaluan Beach Resort. This family-owned beach resort is the first beach to be developed in Panglao.

Our group had the privilege of using two of their new rooms. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, if the white sand beach wasn’t so tempting I would have chosen to stay indoors and just laze around all afternoon!

Kayaking Clinic with Bohol Paddlers Association

Kayaking at Dumaluan Beach Resort was one of the highlights of our Seas the Day Bohol Trip. We had a kayaking clinic courtesy of Bohol Paddlers Association. I’ve never gotten on a kayak before and I was petrified at first that I might topple over. I did topple over – a couple of times, in fact – but the indescribable fun more than made up for it! Also, the guides were very accommodating and patient so of course we all had a blast racing one another and learning how to navigate the waves.

Dinner at Gustus

Our group was famished after our adventures at Dumaluan Beach Resort and the delicious dinner we had at Gustus Restaurant was the perfect way to cap our busy day. Everything we ate at Gustus was mouthwatering but my top favorites would be the shrimp in the bag (pictured) and their buffalo wings! The relaxing atmosphere and yummy food at Gustus makes it the perfect venue for night outs and pig outs with friends.

Breakfast at Jojie’s Pa-Initang Bol-Anon

Breakfast on our last day in Bohol was spent at one of the most popular native cafes in the city, Jojie’s Pa-initang Bol-Anon. This shop specializes in traditional Filipino food, delicacies and kakanin. I loved the chinorizo, fried tulingan (a common fish in the province), kusahos baka (beef) and baboy (pork). We were also given boxes of cassava cake and biko to take home. I’m not exaggerating when I say that their cassava cake is probably the best in the entire Philippines! All my friends who have tasted it are obsessed and can’t get enough!
